Electric smoke curtains are also known as roller-type electric smoke curtains or retractable smoke curtains. Their main components include a motor, a housing, silicone fabric and a shaft. They are widely used in fire and smoke containment designs for ceilings in large-scale venues such as shopping centres, supermarkets and exhibition halls.

How Electric Smoke Curtains Work
They can be manufactured and installed as single or multiple units, with the control mechanism mounted on a wall or column. In the event of a fire, the control centre sends a signal to activate the motor or actuator, causing the smoke curtain to descend (this can also be controlled via a manual button or smoke sensor), forming a smoke barrier of a certain height; once the signal is cleared, the curtain returns to its original position.

Installation for Motorised Bmoke Curtains
Movable smoke curtains should maintain a certain gap from other building structures (columns or walls), but this gap must not exceed 60 mm. Note that there should be no gaps between sections of continuous smoke curtains, and the overlap width must be no less than 100 mm.

Movable smoke barriers must be fitted with a manual control button. They must be permanently installed at a height of 1.3–1.5 m above the floor, where they are clearly visible and easily accessible.
